MIK WHOO?

HELLO!

Welcome!

Words.. Words… Words… OKAY! I hope you learn a little bit about me through this page floating in the world wide web. HERE WE GO!

Yes, Mikaela Keen Lumongsod is my full name. (I know your eyes just passed by my last name and didn’t actually read it. No shame in that). So aside from cooking for my two brothers, and dye-ing my sister’s hair from time to time, photography has been my main expression of creativity. I started with making portraits of my family and friends.

Before getting started with my freshman year at SVA, I convinced myself that I’ll be a fashion photographer. But after my first week, I just got converted to focusing on CREATING FINE ART photographs (What it actually means? Not so sure). Working with film for a semester, I could say that it gave me another perspective. Should have correct exposure, details of shadow should be in this zone, “YOU CANT USE PHOTOSHOP??”, “WHAT IS MANUAL FOCUS”, photo paper costs $$$$$, etc… Yup, it made me grow.

Working with film and the darkroom refined me as a creative. I was ready to embrace the blessing of technology, DIGITAL LYFE YO! And apply everything that I learned from MY hardwork. Ha!

So here’s a proof of that. (Eeep.. hope you can see progress)

I have always thought I would stick with making portraits. People FOREVS. But as of lately I’ve been really attracted to structures of buildings and how it layers to other elements. It almost look like a collage when composed in a photograph.

Architecture hey? Who knew?

(See told ya I was growing! Wink*)

So moving on to what is ahead, I just want to challenge myself and lean in to the possibilities of what I can create through absorbing as much as I can in this class. AKA PHD-2080. AKA Intermediate Digital Photo. What exactly It is that I want to learn? ERRTHANG! No clue. Just wanna keep growing and creating and surprising myself as I journey as an artist.

The best is yet to come.
